Now one of the largest providers of retail, industrial and medical construction in the Cedar Valley, Huff Contracting, Inc. began in 1946 as Huff/Homeway Construction, a small home-building business, under the direction of John P. Huff Sr. The business specialized in building homes in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls areas. Over the years, our project focus has transitioned to commercial contracting, beginning in the 1980s with the change in the real estate market. This led to our present specialization in commercial construction, with an emphasis on restaurants and retail projects.

John P. Huff Sr.

Huff has always been a family-owned and -operated business, and over time our management has changed to include new generations of the Huff family, beginning with John Huff Jr. and now his son Jason Huff and his sister Monica Robbins. Monica joined the company as the Office Manager/ Bookkeeper in 1989, and, upon graduation from college, Jason joined Huff Contracting in 1994, first working in the field and later overseeing sales, estimating, and marketing. As one of John Huff Sr.’s seven sons, all of whom worked for the company at different times, John Huff Jr. assumed control of the business in 1998, and led it until his retirement in 2012, at which point he sold it to Jason Huff, who is now President, and Monica Robbins, who today serves as the Vice President.

Today, the office staff has grown to three full-time employees, and we have a wide variety of projects completed, as you can see from our list of projects. Huff Contracting also prides itself on being a self-performing general contractor. We believe this feature controls costs and the project timelines for our clients. Throughout it all, our commitment to quality, affordable commercial contracting in Waterloo, Iowa and the surrounding areas has remained the same.
